Structured Process Analysis

Structured Process:

1. (Michael) Structured process: The logistics process starts with a CMO (contract manufacturing organization). In Texas, They produce a key component in our main drug Enhertu. Throughout the process, we communicate via Outlook, Teams, and Sharepoint. The CMO Packages and sends out the MAB to Switzerland where it is stored and used to produce the final product.

3. (Michael) The process works well overall and shipments tend to arrive on time assuming no extraordinary circumstances. The biggest issue with the process is ensuring that the CMO, Daiichi Sankyo, and our European colleagues are aligned on the current shipment; this requires constant communication which can be tedious and time-consuming.

(Jeff) Outlook supports the inventory processes by allowing Daiichi Sankyo to communicate with the CMO and their global colleagues in Europe and Japan. Additionally, Microsoft Sharepoint is used to upload and store documents. Communication between manufacturers and Daiichi Sankyo is key to making sure both parties are aligned on what is going out, when, and if the quality is acceptable to both parties. The hardware used is the company-issued laptop that comes with Outlook connected to the company's email/Microsoft server. The software used is Microsoft Office Suite to create the documents required for a pharmaceutical shipment, Outlook is used as the communication point between the CMO and Daiichi Sankyo and between the US and Europe. Data is transferred via Microsoft SharePoint from the CMO to Daiichi Sankyo. The CMO uploads many different documents for Daiichi Sankyo’s quality and supply chain managers to review prior to shipment. Procedures include reviewing quality documents to ensure the MAB is safe to use for production, the review/creation of export documentation to ensure there are no issues with the TSA when shipping to Europe, and the creation of packing lists to ensure both the CMO and Daiichi are aligned on what is shipping. People who support the logistics process are Supply Chain managers at Daiichi Sankyo who schedule and create export documentation for the shipment, Quality managers who ensure the product is safe to use, and Manufacturing workers who package and ship out the product at the CMO.

 4. (Jeff) There are no information silos in the logistics process due to proper communication between all parties. There are issues with the IS however, emails are easily lost and that is due to user error it is up to the people to organize their own emails and ensure anything that is a high priority is reviewed.

5. (Jeff) CRM or customer relationship management system is a set of applications that help manage all interactions with the customer. This includes Customer Service software like Zendesk. ERP or enterprise resource planning helps “consolidate business operations into a single consistent computing platform”(textbook). Enterprise application integration aims to bring all the company's databases and workflows together under one application. The major ERP vendors are SAP, Microsoft, and Oracle. Infor ERP and Epicor. Daiichi Sankyo uses SAP to manage finished products, inventory on hand, and purchase orders(production orders to/from the CMO).

6. (Jeff) Inter enterprise process is a process that spans two or more independent organizations and an inter-enterprise IS is an IS that supports the inter-enterprise process. Daiichi Sankyo uses multiple inter-enterprise ISs to support the logistics process. We use Outlook as stated above to communicate globally with our European and Japanese colleagues as well as our various CMOs. We use Box.com to upload documents for Japan/Europe to review. Our CMOS uses Sharepoint to communicate production documents with us. Teams are used to host meetings with the CMOs and global colleagues.
