Introduction

  • (Michael) The main purpose of this project is to discover ways Daiichi Sankyo uses information systems to support its business function. After that, suggest ways the company can improve those functions. The company focuses on supply chain to deliver pharmaceuticals globally by outsourcing to various delivery companies. This project will assist students in real-life application of Information systems by studying how IS is used in a real company. 


  • (Lauren) Daiichi-Sankyo is a leading global pharmaceutical company with roots originating in Japan. This group has a widespread global presence with 18 research and development locations in 10 countries/regions and 13 production locations in 6 countries/regions. The organization’s dedicated workforce of over 17,000+ employees provide innovative pharmaceuticals and services in more than 20 countries around the world. Daiichi-Sankyo’s core purpose is to contribute to the enrichment of quality of life worldwide, as CEO Sunao Manabe expressed. We proudly represent the company’s Head office for the American division in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.


  • (Jeff) We plan on interviewing Duc Lai and Wanza Delaney. Duc is a global CMO(contract manufacturer organization) manager who has been with the company for 17 years. Wanza is a Kean alumni who works to create package inserts and designs the bottles the pharmaceuticals go in. Some questions could be asked about how the company has improved its MIS processes over the years, what is your most used system and how the company plans on improving the systems already in place.



  • (Desi) Thesis Statement: The fundamental core of a pharmaceutical company such as Daiichi Sankyo, focuses on information systems such as Excel to utilize its global supply chain.
